Book Printing That Arrives Bookstore-Ready

One proof copy or ten thousand for a launch, hardcover or paperback, cream novel stock or heavy art paper – we print, bind and ship books that feel like they came off a publisher’s press. You choose the trim size, paper and binding; we handle file preparation, colour management, proofing and production.

Print Every Kind of Book, Exactly as You Pictured It

Hardcover or softcover. Portrait, landscape or square. Uncoated stock that feels like a novel, or a gloss finish that makes photography sing. Every specification on a printed book changes how it reads in a reader’s hands, so we let you choose all of them rather than pushing you into one house format.

Our print specialists review your files before anything reaches the press, flagging low-resolution images, missing bleed, unembedded fonts and colour that will not hold on paper. You approve a proof, then the full run goes into production.

The Books We Print

Every category below carries its own paper, binding and finishing requirements. Pick yours and we will quote the specification that suits how the book will actually be used.

From Print File To Finished Copies

01

Your Specification Is Set

Trim size, page count, paper stock, binding and quantity are confirmed first, because every one of them moves the price and the production time.

02

Files Are Checked By Prepress

We inspect resolution, bleed, margins, embedded fonts and colour space, then send a marked-up report rather than printing a problem at scale.

03

Colour Is Managed End To End

Profiles are applied so covers and interiors match from the first copy to the last, and a reprint months later still sits beside the original.

04

A Proof Comes Before The Run

Order a single bound copy and hold the real paper, spine and cover finish in your hands before committing to the full quantity.

05

Digital Or Offset, Whichever Fits

Short and variable runs go digital for speed; large runs move to offset where the per-copy cost drops. We recommend the one your quantity justifies.

06

Bound, Packed And Shipped

Books are trimmed, bound, quality-checked and cartoned for transit, then shipped to your door, your event or your fulfilment centre.

Choose Your Paper, Trim and Binding

These are the options that appear on a standard quote. If your book needs something outside the list, ask – most custom specifications can be matched.

Titles We’ve Put On Press

From single-copy keepsakes to full retail runs, our print team has produced books across every genre we publish. Each one left the press checked, bound and ready for a reader.

Why Authors Print With Inkwood

Printing is the last place a book can go wrong, and the first place a reader judges it. A cover that scuffs, a spine that cracks on the second read or an interior that runs muddy undoes everything the writing and design earned.

So we treat the press as part of publishing, not a commodity bolted on at the end of it. The team that prepared your interior layout and cover files hands them to production, which means nobody has to guess what the book was meant to look like.

Short runs are welcome. Order one proof, twenty for a reading, or the full launch quantity – the quality specification does not change with the size of the order.

Every Copy Checked Before It Ships

Bindings are tested, covers are inspected for registration and finish, and interiors are spot-checked against the approved proof. If a batch does not match what you signed off, it does not leave the building – we reprint it.

The Path to Printed Copies

Specification
and Quote

We confirm trim size, page count, paper, binding, finish and quantity, then price the run so there are no surprises later.

File
Preparation

You get templates for your exact trim, and prepress checks bleed, margins, fonts and image resolution before anything goes to press.

Proof
Approval

A bound or digital proof goes to you for sign-off. Nothing enters the full run until you have approved what you have seen.

Print, Bind
and Ship

The run is printed, bound, quality-checked and cartoned, then shipped to your address, event venue or fulfilment partner.

Frequently Asked
Questions

It depends on the run size. For short runs, fast turnarounds and books that change between printings, digital printing is the better choice. Once you are printing 500 copies or more, offset usually costs less per copy and is worth the longer setup. We recommend the method your quantity actually justifies rather than the one that suits us.

Price is driven by trim size, page count, interior paper, cover stock and finish, binding style and quantity. A 200-page 6" x 9" paperback and a 200-page full-colour hardcover are very different jobs. Send us those six details and we will come back with a firm figure, not a range.

You can order one. Digital printing makes a single bound proof practical, which is the sensible way to check paper, colour and binding before you commit to a full run.

The binding sets the minimum, not the order size. Perfect binding and case-bound hardcovers generally need at least 24 pages to hold a readable spine. Saddle-stitched booklets can go lower, in multiples of four.

Perfect binding suits most paperbacks. Case binding gives hardcovers their durability and shelf presence. Smyth-sewn is the one to pick when a book needs to lie flat and survive heavy use, such as a workbook, cookbook or textbook. Saddle stitch works for thin booklets and programmes.

There is no single standard, but there are conventions by genre: 5" x 8" for novellas, 5.5" x 8.5" digest and 6" x 9" for novels and business books, 6.625" x 10.25" for comics, and 8" x 10" or 8.5" x 11" for photography, workbooks and cookbooks. We supply a template for whichever size you choose.

Most single copies and small orders are produced in two to five business days after proof approval, with larger runs taking longer. Shipping time is added on top. Tell us your quantity and we will confirm the production window with your quote.

Yes. If your book is already edited, designed and laid out, send us print-ready files and we will handle production alone. If the files need work, our prepress team will tell you exactly what needs fixing before we quote the run.
